The Fogger - Cast
JOEL NEWBURY (Producer/Playwright):
Joel has been writing plays, short stories, and music ever since he could hold an HB pencil. Apart from a one-performance run when he was 12 years old of his cautionary tale, “Iron Ears: The Ex-Easter Bunny”, this is his first play that other people have been able to see. He was amazed to see the energy in the room when everyone got together for rehearsals, and is indebted to his director for assembling such a talented cast of left-handers. Joel hopes “The Fogger” will make you laugh, think, and cry, not necessarily in that order. If you want to cry at the laughing parts and laugh at the crying parts, that’s your call. Just make sure your windows are closed when you get home.
Dave Meister (Director):
Dave is excited about being part of this, his second Fringe play – the first one as a director. Since studying theatre at the University of Calgary, Dave has enjoyed staying active in theater, most recently in the 2006 Fringe production of “Six Times a Day” and a couple of great years with The Prairie Players while living in Portage La Prairie. Now proud to call Winnipeg home, Dave pays his bills by working as a Communications Manager for Parks Canada. He enjoys raising his two wonder children, Jeremy (5) and Kiana (3) with his lovely wife Corinne (not aloud to mention her age).
Amber Anderson (Donna):
The Fogger is Amber's first Fringe play, but she has performed many times during the Winnipeg Fringe Festival on the Market Square Stage with her band. Amber's acting credits include several appearances in the Living Christmas Tree productions by Grant Memorial Church, Vultures (a Venue 8 Production), several musicals including the role of Anne in Anne of Green Gables, and "The Harlot" in the workshop production of the new musical "Pilgrim" in the Lighthouse Theatre Festival in southern Ontario. Prior to her current position as an External Communications Specialist at the University of Manitoba, Amber spent several years in broadcast media, including on-air positions at CJOB, A-Channel, FREQ107, BOB fm, Q-94, and HANK fm.
Clayton Wilchowy (Jim):
Clayton is also a first-timer to the world of Fringe play productions, and is looking forward to his festival debut. His interest in unobstructed live performance was hallmarked in 2007's production of Living Christmas Tree at Grant Memorial Church. Previous stage experience includes many productions as puppeteer at The Meeting Place, and Clayton has a movie credit - forever to be known as 'the bartender' in the 1997 film Men With Guns. Clayton's artistic interests stem from the visual/interactive arts community. He has played minor to moderate roles in video games and small media productions, both live-action and animated.
Steve Thompson (Bob):
“The Fogger” is Steve's first Fringe play, but his acting credits include pretending to be an informed and entertaining individual every day as host of the Mid-Day Show at 99.9 BOB FM. Steve also does the play-by-play/colour commentary for U of W Wesmen basketball games on 1290 CFRW. Through a 20 year career in broadcasting, Steve has worked nearly every format in radio, anchored the TV News, performed stand-up comedy, emceed numerous corporate functions, and bought breakfast for many a touring rock band. He's also very involved with charities – from participating in and emceeing many events every year, to being a former member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Sisters and Chairman of the Special Olympics Winter Games.
